Preparing for Christmas

Christmas time is such a fun time of year and so much of the fun is in the weeks leading up to the big day!

Since we are a young family, we are still working on building our holiday tradition, but we do have a few things we look forward to each year:

We all enjoy decorating the tree together

and baking Christmas goodies afterwards.

We visit the zoo all lit up at night each year and, in Houston, we love joining the neighborhood festival Lights in the Heights.

We sit on Santa's lap

and celebrate with friends decorating gingerbread houses and cookies!

No matter where or what we do for the holidays, most importantly we get lots of fun family time playing, singing, reading books and laughing!

Our lessons learned this year during our holiday prep - if you are going to let your three year old top your tree with the glass tree topper, remind him not to just throw it at the tree...doh.

Another lesson learned during Christmas 2013 was that Christmas trees are a fantastic landing zone for toy planes, balls and other flying objects and tons of fun to climb in and retrieve the goodies.
