Here's a little more about Ethan at two years old:
As always, he is big for his age. At his two year appointment he was 95th percentile in height and weight. Aaron noticed that per the growth charts, he's already in the 65th percentile for three year olds. And he is healthy in every way!
An average day in Ethan's life right now includes playing with trains, then putting a few puzzles together, going outside and running in circles yelling for a while and then throwing some balls, getting in the crib with Kelsey to play with her, reading lots of books, going outside to throw some more balls, playing in water and blowing bubbles, painting, reading and going out and doing whatever activity is on the agenda for the day. He also sneaks in 4 meals a day, a nap and most likely a time out session or two.
He is learning colors (knows blue, green, red and sometimes yellow), learning his letters (recognizes and can name the vowels), beginning to learn to count to three. He likes songs with hand motions the best, so we make up motions for lots of songs that don't usually have motions (although at this point he rarely lets me sing anything but 'Wheels on the Truck').
He is usually mellow and quiet in big groups but lets his big personality out when less people are around. He surprises me sometimes though - We always went to sing a long at the zoo in Alaska and the leader would open the mic up to the kids to sing each week. Ethan wasn't talking then, but he would volunteer to 'sing' just like the older kids. He would just stand there holding the mic to his mouth and not make a sound. The lady didn't realize he didn't talk so would encourage him again and again to sing and let him stand there for a long time. It amazed me that he volunteered to be the center of attention in front of so many people, but microphones draw out even the quiet ones I guess!
My favorite time with Ethan during the day is when its my turn to put him to bed at night and lay there together talking about all the fun we had during the day and talk about what we're going to do the next day.
