Ethan Kris Fuhr, 5 Years Old

Five always seemed like such a milestone in a childhood to me and now that I actually have a five year old, I am amazed at how big of a milestone it actually is.  Five year olds are a big deal!  (just ask Ethan)

Ethan has left any remaining bit of early childhood behind him and is now fully in to his kid years.  He moves, acts, plays, questions and rebels like a kid now.

He has found a new independence so when we are out of the house he is no where near mom, he is off playing hard and rarely comes back to check in with me as he used to...which is why I never had pictures of him anymore.  And if I am able to snap a quick picture, it is never with a real smile but crazy faces.  Because he has found a new silliness which involves lots of noises and faces that he and his buddies think are hilarious.

He has a big personality and loves playing with other kids.  It doesn't matter if he doesn't know anyone else, he is happy playing with any kid his age.  But around adults, he is still pretty shy.

At five, Ethan has a ton of energy, a lot of laughs, loves animals (especially marine mammals) and wants to learn everything he can about them.  His favorite book is his National Geographic Animals, his favorite musicians are Maroon 5, his favorite food is noodles (still!), his favorite activity is riding his bike.

Another new thing for E at 5 is that he is now competitive, which means games and sports are a lot more fun to him.  He loves to race and he loves soccer now because it's so fun to score goals and he wants to finish games now to see who wins.

With this new competitiveness comes an interest in the 'best'.  He is only concerned about the 'est' of anything - the fastest, slowest, shortest, tallest, deepest, best-est.  And like most 5 year olds, he is pretty sure he is best-est of anything he tries!

Ethan at 5!
