Ethan started school the day after Labor Day this year and he was so excited.
It was an easy transition from summer for this guy because he went back to the same school, the same teacher and many of the same friends. The only thing that changed was the playground, which worked out well for him because he loves the new swings.
When we picked him up after the first day, the first thing he said to me was - Mom, can we go earlier tomorrow? I didn't have enough time to play today. And then the next day he says to me - Mom, can you pick me up later? I want to stay with my friends longer. ...I guess that means he's having fun...
He loves his school because they spend most of their day outside, which he says is favorite place because he doesn't like having to pick up the toys when he is inside. When outside, Ethan spends all his time at the swings and the bar swing.
Kels was just as excited for the first day of school as E. She dressed herself up that day, even put gel in her hair herself. She made sure I packed her a lunch just like and brushed her teeth herself.
When we got to school she got out with E, with her lunch sack, and followed him into the classroom. I got a little worried that she was going to get upset when she had to get back in the car with me, but instead after we dropped him off she said - Now I get Mommy all to myself!
And she has been having a great time with just Mommy...and Cole. But she likes it best when Cole is sleeping and it is just her.
We spend most of E's school days at home because she doesn't like sharing me with anyone else. She loves having all the attention and getting to be the one deciding everything!
And it is amazing how much her personality blossoms when she is the only star. Her imagination is becoming more vivid and she is starting to play games that don't just mimic what happens in her real life.
This guy didn't really care about the first day of school. He ate, slept, played like he always does...but maybe he did enjoy that it was a little quieter in the house...
The only thing Kels likes to do while E is at school is story time at the library. She gets to sing, dance, make art, play with the parachute and listen to stories.
Cole actually loves this time as well. He smiles and laughs at all the movement around him.
Whew, the transition from laid back to summer to school time was an easy one this year!
