The end of May marked the end of Ethan's first school year. Like most preschoolers, he loves to go to school and doesn't understand why there is a summer break.

Although he was sad about school ending, but he sure didn't mind the ice cream celebration we had after the last day,

or when the party continued with play time at the arboretum.

It's neat to think back at the first day of school, when I was so sad that he was growing up and starting school. And now, after nine months of seeing him gain independence and confidence, all I am is proud of him.

It was a lot of fun during the school year to watch him build his self esteem as he found friends on his own that he really loves and began to understand the social world he lives in. And he did it all by himself.
Turns out, letting go of the kids so they can grow into their own lives might be a little easier than I thought it would be...as long as it happens in baby steps!

The changing of seasons means the changing of sports. Gymnastics and soccer have ended and swim lessons have started.
Its funny, as I talk about being comfortable with the kids growing up, I have to admit Kels' first swim lesson was tough. It was the first class she has taken on her own, without Mommy. And my little mamas girl didn't even look back as she ran out to meet her teacher! She is ready to be a big kid.

With school out, we are fully into summer fun,
with summer food,
summer activities,
summer sports,
and like last summer, finding water to keep cool.
Although, the one positive about the heat is that it wipes everyone out for a quiet naptime!
