We've been living back in the great state of Texas for over a month now and it is feeling like home again. After two and a half years away, it's nice to be back around everything we missed.
Our favorite thing about being back in Texas for the summer is the pool! Alaska doesn't have a single outdoor pool and we missed them.
Within two weeks of being back, both Ethan and Kelsey were noticebly more comfortable in the water. Ethan always loved the water, but has now turned into such a little fish.
And what makes the pool so nice is all the warm sun we get in Texas. We do not miss the clouds and rain that make up a lot of the Alaskan summer. It feels wonderful to be warm again - I missed being hot!
We are also happy to be back in the land of fresh fruit, shorts, swimsuits, thunderstorms, flip flops, driving vacations, cheap airfare, football and baseball. Most of all we are happy to be so much closer to friends and family!
Over the last month, while we wait to move into our house, we have entertained ourselves in the Texas sun with lots of play time in the yard.
There is so much to play with back there and it all involves water - sprinklers, a wading pool, a water table, and plain ol' rain from the sky. Ethan is in heaven with all the water to play with.
He is happy we didn't leave the huge puddles of Alaska behind - we look forward to the rain in Texas to cool us off and provide some jumping fun.
We take lots of walks around the neighborhood lake. Sometimes Malley leads E...
...and sometimes E leads Malley.
I was worried that we wouldn't get as much time outside once we left Alaska, but that isn't the case. We still spend most of our days out of the house.
But some days we escape the afternoon heat with playtime inside.
Sometimes we play with the friends we are so happy to be living near again, and sometimes it's just us.
A perk of living on the Gulf Coast is day trips to the beach. It is refreshing getting some cool relief on the beach.
Ethan and Kelsey both love playing out in the waves and enjoying the warm water.
Although, Kelsey gets to enjoy a lot of shade time under her canopy as well. It's tough protecting that glowing white skin!
We have also enjoyed catching up on some of the fun breweries and restaurants that have popped up while we were gone. Once we get settled, we are going to be have a great time exploring this area again!
Our first month back:
Boo!
Pretzels and beer.
A good nap in the shade.
Laughing girl!
Whoo Whoo!
Water time.
Kelsey standing with Daddy...
...and then one of E, sneaking into a shot. :)
