Home Sweet Home

After almost two full months of being in Houston, we are finally starting to feel settled and at home.  Two weeks ago we moved into our new house and it feels good!

We found a cute little house on a quiet street, in a neighborhood down inside the city. Best of all, we were lucky to find a house with a decent yard. The huge magnolia tree in the front is one of my favorite parts of the house, I can't wait for it to bloom.

The yards have room to run, the front porch has a swing, and the neighborhood has a great community feel.  Aaron and are excited to be living a completely different area of the city than we did last time we lived here. Having kids this time around also makes the city feel new to us.

After six weeks, it was so nice to see all our things again (although we realized we have way, way too many things!!).  Ethan and Kelsey have both enjoyed playing with more than the small suitcase full of toys that we have had the last several weeks.

Ethan spent the first few days playing with every toy he owned and wanting to read every book. We got lots of breaks while unpacking to read and play with him.

My favorite move in moment was when Ethan found his green rubber boots that he had worn all spring around Anchorage.  The moment he saw them, he started giggling and putting them on.  He wore them proudly for days, not even caring that it was 95 degrees and rubber doesn't breathe...

The Heights is an old neighborhood in a revitalization stage, so we were lucky to find a house that didn't need much work.  A little bit of paint, a few fixture change outs and we're set!  We are also pretty lucky we had our green booted friend to help us shop.

We've spent a lot of time the last two weeks moving in and working on a few improvement projects.  Here are some pictures of our time at the house:

Loving the mess of the house

Enjoying her new toys

E happy to discover the previous owners left him the bear and fish he loved to play with when we visited before they moved out

Kels having room to crawl in all the empty rooms before our furniture came

I love this pic - E running through the yard, claiming it all as his

Exploring the yard with the pups

So happy that she doesn't have to help unpack

Getting some grub in our new family room

Keeping watch over the street, her favorite spot in the house
