Some of Aaron's best memories from his childhood are fishing with his dad and brothers, so it was fun this summer when Grandpa and Aaron introduced our kids to the sport.
Since Ethan is a little older than Kels, he was into it more than she was. He wanted to catch his first fish so bad.
As soon as we got to Steamboat, Ethan and Kelsey spent time learning to cast off the back deck into Grandpa's big yard.
And when we got to the pond, they were both excited to cast for real and catch that fish.
Then they learned that a big part of fishing is patiently waiting for the fish,
which they did well for a little while.
And then they got bored.
And played in the dirt
Which just left Grandpa and Aaron fishing...with the Barbie rod.
Aaron hooked a fish on her rod and got Kels to run over and reel it in...
but then she got bored with that too and came back to play with her dollie and let Dad deal with the slimy thing.
Seeing Kels' fish got Ethan excited about getting one of his own,
but Kels was over it and headed out for a walk with Gigi.
And then he did it - Grandpa hooked one and E got to reel in his first fish!
He was so excited to reel it in, to get to use the net and then to touch it.
Once E touched it, Kels was kind of wanted to do it too...
but it was so slimy...yuck.
Grandpa Kris is a happy man when he is catching fish and it is so fun to watch him begin to pass this onto the next generation.
