A Summer's Journey, Week I

Summer vacation 2014 could be summarized like this:  Seven destinations in three weeks and two days, over 2700 miles driven, three young kids, one dog and two crazy adults all in one small car.  It was awesome.  A little tight on space, but still awesome.

Over the three weeks we spent some of the time in the mountains, some of the time in the cities, and most of the time with family.

We started the trip at my parents house in Monument, Co.

It was a fabulous week of spending quality time with friends and family,

soaking up the fresh mountain air,

having fun in Denver and Colorado Springs,

and relaxing at home.

During the week we enjoyed time with Nana and Poppy, Grandma Dolly, Uncle Greg and Aunt Michelle, my Aunt Becky and Uncle Bob.

I did a horrible job of taking pictures of some of my favorite moments of the week, like checking on the garden everyday to see what bloomed or going to the Rockies game, but I was able to get some smiling faces.

While we were at home, the kids loved spending time in Nana and Poppy's yard and garden or playing on the deck,

and my little bookworm Kels couldn't get enough of Nana's books

and asked everyone to read to her again and again and again.

E & Kels are so much fun to watch with their grandparents right now, they love following them around and helping out just getting work done.

When not working, they loved getting play time in

and just hanging out.

This was Cole's first trip to Nana and Poppy's house

and I think he was a fan of all the arms that were there to hold him.

We spent some very good days fishing in the mountains

and playing in the river

and hiking around.

Nothing beats the Colorado sunshine!

The kids had a great time getting out of the Houston summer heat,

doing new and different things during the day,

and seeing so much family that we don't see enough.

It was a fantastic week with our Nana and Poppy and we are so happy we got to spend an extra week with them!
