Kelsey Bailey, One Year Old!

What a day to celebrate - it's 12-12-12 and it's Kelsey's first birthday!  Happy birthday to my Bebe, my Special K, my kB, my sweet baby Kels!

At one year old, Kelsey is such a happy, mellow little girl.  If she isn't giggling and waving her arms around in excitement, she is happily chilling by herself playing with toys.

She is such a content, sweet little girl...until she gets hungry.  Then she just gets fiesty.

At one year old, Kelsey is:

Waving and giving high fives

 Blowing bubbles in the bath

 Blowing air on hot food

Eating with a spoon

Standing on her own and working on walking (she no longer leans on us as we hold her hands, just won't let go quite yet...)

Doing anything her brother is doing

And figuring out how to communicate.

She signs 'all done' and 'eat' and is starting to say 'words'.

She fully says mama and dada and consistently says the first consonant and vowel of many words: ba for bath, baba for bubbles, da for dog, ya for yogurt, ect.

She makes fantastic monkey sounds and makes the cutest little lips as she does it:  ooo ooo ooo, eh eh eh eh, ah ah ah.  It sounds exactly like chimps talking!

She also responds to most things we say to her, showing us how much she understands.

Kelsey loves music, clapping and dancing.  Music is soothing to her and can calm her if she's getting antsy.

She loves books of animals (real pictures, not cartoon animals).  Her favorite book is My Little Animal Book and she squeals in excitement when she pulls it out.

She loves soft squishy blankets and stuffed animals and absolutely loves to destroy Ethan's train set as he is playing with it.

In her first year she has lived in two states and seen the extremes of the US.  She experienced the snowiest winter in Alaska, the coldest January on record in the state, and then a few months later experienced the hottest June day in Houston.

She has been in 5 states, (Alaska, Hawaii, Texas, Washington, and Colorado) and two countries (Canada, USA).

One of my favorite things about Kelsey as a one year old is how when she cuddles up to snuggle with me, she still folds her feet in exactly like she did as a newborn (and we're guessing as she did in the womb).

And best of all she gives the cutest little hugs, grabs on so tight to your neck, and the sweetest little kisses, blowing raspberries on your lips.  She is a little lover.

Happy first birthday baby girl!
