All birthdays are a pretty big deal around our house, but I think first birthdays are extra special. We spent a week celebrating and looking back at how much Bebe has changed in 12 months.
At her one year wellness check up we found out that she is 75th percentile for height, weight and head circumference (a perfectly proportioned baby!), has excellent verbal skills and is as healthy as can be.
...until Auntie Cari and her cousins Anni and Kate started the celebrating off with a birthday party Skype session, full of singing and watching her open her present from them.
Then, we spent her birthday day at the zoo with friends. She had a great time getting excited whenever she saw an animal - clapping her hands excitedly and screeching.
The rest of the day was spent playing at home with E and the pups and talking to all our family on the phone.
I think she loved all the birthday attention, but got pretty sick of Mom putting bows on her head.
Once Daddy got home that night, we started the family party.
Kels actually got really into opening the presents,
and was so excited about each of them!
Of course, Ethan couldn't help but get in on the unwrapping action. I'm not sure he fully understood that it wasn't his birthday as well...
After a special birthday dinner, it was finally time for Kelsey's favorite part of the day...the CAKE!
She LOVED her cake.
I was impressed she didn't make more of mess, but I think she knew not to waste the frosting by getting it on her face much.
This look says "Happy Birthday to ME!"
E and Kels have spent the last week playing with all the fun new toys they got (and yes, E is pretty sure the gifts were to both of them...)
Thanks to everyone who spoiled our girl on her big day! She loved the presents, the cards and all the fun wrapping paper that came with them. :)
Last weekend, E helped me get ready for the party we threw for the birthday girl.
He worked hard and made the perfectly frosted cupcake...and then he ate it!
Once we baked and decorated, all of our favorite friends came over to celebrate sweet Kelsey's first year of life.
Once she got used to all the people at our house, she seemed to really have fun at the party.
And of course, she was a pretty big fan of getting another round of cake.
The big girl really seemed to enjoy her first birthday!
And E loved celebrating what my sister calls his 'big brother day'.
