Our trip down to Tulsa for Greg and Michelle's wedding was the beginning of a three and a half week adventure for Ethan and I. After the wedding weekend, Aaron had to head back to Alaska to go back to work. Ethan and I hopped in the car with my parents and headed up to Colorado to spend the week at their house. Ethan was completely worn out after partying with family all weekend and slept almost the entire trip.
It was a great week spending time with Nana and Poppy. Ethan discovered how cool his grandparents are. They have a fantastic yard to play in,
cool toys like bubble machines,
and even a pool and sun in the back yard.
It was fun to spend time in a warmer climate because my baby could finally run around the yard in just his diaper and be warm! The hot, hot sun (without humidity!) felt fantastic.
We got out and enjoyed the great weather and mountains, going on hikes and trips to the river to fish and play. We were even able to spend a day with my Aunt Becky and Uncle Bob up in the mountains.
Ethan had a great time getting to know his grandparents and playing in lots of new places.
At the end of the week, I left Ethan in Colorado with Nana and Poppy and headed down to Miami to spend time with college friends. This was the first time I left Ethan for more than a few hours and I was pretty nervous about it. He and I spend so much time together, I couldn't imagine three days without my little buddy...not to mention he is a bit of a mama's boy so I was a little worried about him missing me...
All the worrying was for nothing- he did fantastic while I was gone. I think that it helps that Nana and Poppy's house is like an amusement park for kids that like to be outside and they did a great job of playing with him and keeping him occupied. It ended up being a great weekend for everyone - I got some quality time with old friends and Ethan and his grandparents really got to know each other. Even Aaron seemed to have a good weekend back in Alaska, taking the boat out and getting some fishing time in.
By the time E and I left Colorado, I think Nana and Poppy were pretty worn out. Following an active little one year old can take a lot out of you. I'm so happy Ethan got to spend so much time with them, it was a great week...in fact the entire two weeks we spent in the Lower 48 couldn't have been better. I got to see almost everyone in my entire extended family and introduce them to Ethan, spend quality time with my parents AND get to see some of my best friends from college, on my birthday. A wonderful trip for sure!
