After a week in Monument, we hit the road with Nana and Poppy to spend a few days deep in the mountains in Crested Butte.
We had never been to this area of Colorado before, but after a day or two it easily became one of my favorite places in the state.
The little bitty mountain town is nestled in between some awesome mountains, which made for fantastic hiking and fishing.
And there weren't many people there when we were, so we had the place to ourselves!
We had a fabulous few days exploring a new place,
getting time with Nana and Poppy,
and soaking up some magical days outside!
So happy we snuck in the little side trip!
And since Poppy was there,
we actually got a few family pictures.
It is rare to get all five of us in one shot, let alone all six of us,
and even more rare to have us all look at the camera.
Hiking to a mountain lake:
My favorite day was spent hiking to a little mountain lake.
We were a few weeks early to see all the wildflower blooms, but even without them I thought this place was beautiful.
Before we started that day, Ethan and Kelsey made sure their hair was right. He went for the straight out of bed, wild man look.
And she for the cute little hiker girl. All set for a great day.
And then we hiked and played and enjoyed ourselves!
In between hiking, there was a little resting:
And because it was a perfect day, we even got to play in snow!:
And afterwards there was ice cream.
Fishing at a mountain lake:
Another day we found a great little mountain lake to fish and play in.
It was so quite there, we mostly had the beautiful area to ourselves.
So while Ethan and Daddy fished, Kelsey made little pools and homes for the fish eggs
and Cole threw rocks.
And went swimming, which is always helpful when fishing.
Crested Butte was amazing and we will be back!
