Happy Halloween from our little Elephant and Peanut! We spent the week getting into the spooky festivities and partying it up. Halloween is a ton of fun now that we have a kiddo old enough to get excited about it all (might even have to say it's even more fun than Halloween in the college years!).
Halloween started off with the traditional carving of pumpkins.
E didn't get as messy with the pumpkin goo as I thought he would, he preferred to dig out the guts with a spoon rather than his hands.
And once he and his buddy got bored of the pumpkins and went to play with toys, we pulled out the knives and carved these beauties!
Next step in Halloween preparation was cookie decorations. Because all the candy wasn't enough sugar for the holiday, we added in some cookies, sprinkles and frosting!
Ethan figured out pretty quickly what his best decorating technique was - one hand putting frosting on a new cookie, the other hand eating the cookie just finished. Efficiency at its best.
He decorated bears, ghosts and bats and ate them all!
Once the decorating was done it was time to put on costumes and hit the parties. The little elephant went all over town, hitting up all the fun Halloween events.
One of his favorites was at a friend who turned their garage into a spooky event with a ball pit, bounce house and games.
Ethan figured out that the best thing about his costume was how slick it was on the bouncy slide.
We all got a little nervous when E took a turn at the pinata, but luckily his aim with the bat was better than we thought.
Linked below are a few shots from one of our photographer friends...
On the actual Halloween day, we stopped by Aaron's work's party at the Imaginarium and the little Elephant ran around playing games. Then we were off the the annual Zoo Boo, where E got to trick or treat for the first time! He was a big fan of just holding your hand out and getting candy put in it.
It was a neat night at the zoo, all the animals were up and moving and making noises...probably a little agitated by all the screaming, sugar-hyped kids running around at night?? The coolest was the snow leopard who ran up and down the rocks while were there and even gave a little roar. (picture taken by our friend Franky Lopez)
It snowed on us all night as we wandered the zoo, but that's what you get when you go trick or treating in Alaska!
Ethan the Elephant was a trooper all week with the Halloween fun, but was all worn out by the end of the night. He definitely enjoyed the holiday!
