Here's a super short video of Ethan working on learning to walk. The first little blurp is the second time Ethan walked by himself. My favorite part is his arms - you can tell he has no idea what to do with them. For best viewing, tilt your head to the right and don't blink because it happens fast. The second scene was about an hour later trying to recreate it for Aaron when he came home from work...he's not walking but it's pretty cute.
Our man has decided he is not our little circus monkey and stopped performing his new skills on command in front of people or a camera months ago. This means we don't have much video of him walking yet because he sits down whenever we turn the camera on.
Walking is still a game to the little man and crawling is still his go to way of getting around. And when he really wants to move he kicks it up into his 'power crawl' mode where he puts his head down and moves his hips as he races. It's hilarious to watch him cruising along, see something he wants to get a closer look at, turn on the burners and move. You can see the determination in his eyes - he wants to go fast! He gets a little out of control sometimes and has even earned himself a rug burn on the chin when his legs got going faster than his arms. It makes me wonder what kind of trouble we are in for when he's running and not crawling.
The best way to get E to laugh right now is to make a sound effect when he opens, closes, touches, covers, or uncovers something. If he figures out what motion you made the effect for, he'll start doing it over and over again laughing his head off. He'll bring a book up to me, open and close it quickly again and again as I make noises. The little man is rolling laughing after about 10 opens. Adorable.
By the way, the cute new hat is from Nana and Poppy's trip to Peru, we think he is pretty stinking cute in it!
