3 Months

Ethan turned three months on August 5th.  Everyone has told me that babies just get more and more fun the older they get and so far they are exactly right.  We are really enjoying watching his little personality start to develop and seeing him begin to learn about his world.

At three months we have noticed a definite increase in Ethan's awareness of his surroundings and how much he is able to interact with us.  He is very vocal and talks back when we talk to him, loves to have his hands and feet played with, and can reach out and grab things he plays with.

He can roll over from both front to back and back to front, and works very hard every day on getting his hands to go where he wants them too...but his favorite thing to do is to stand.

All Ethan wants to do all day is stand or pull himself into a standing position again and again.  He used to only get whiney when he was hungry or tired, but now we get this face when we don't help him stand and he wants to.  It's the first thing he has been able to communicate he wants other than the basic needs of eating and sleeping - kinda cool!
Just about anything can make Ethan laugh (cept when he's getting tired, then he turns into a very serious little boy).  He likes to play peek a boo, sing songs and just watch people.  He also recognizes Aaron and I when we enter a room and gives us a big smile, which I love.

Ethan is very interested in the world around him right now.  He loves to face foward in his carrier so he can watch what is in front of him. He used to nap during our hikes, but now he is too entertained by they passing scenery to sleep. He gets such a serious face as he is learning about his world, its almost like you can see the gears in his brain ticking trying to take it all in.

He has also found his feet in the last few days. Bath time has become a lot of fun because he has figured out he can kick his legs and splash the water - its pretty funny!

Ethan is working on figuring out his vocal cords.  He has been very talkative the last few weeks and lately the talking is getting louder and louder.  Sometimes he just lets out a loud shriek and then smiles, like he's proud that such a big noise could come from him.  Its fun to listen to him talk to himself or have him 'sing' along with me.

Last weekend Ethan got to spend a full day playing with Grandma and Grandpa while Aaron and I headed over to Whittier and kayaked around Prince William Sound.  It was nice for Aaron and I to get away for a day and get out on the water without the little guy.  I think Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed getting to spend the day with Ethan and we love that he is getting to know them while he's a baby.

We had a great day exploring in the kayak.  We saw sea otters, seals, schools of pink salmon, a grizzly bear, and several bald eagles. It was very cool to be right on the water and see the animals so close.

A few pictures of glaciers around Whittier:

E, fully enjoying his naptime.

Nice pics! Regarding the sixth picture from the top with the one raised eyebrow and tongue out, I've decided you should call that look on his face his "WTF" face . . . seems appropriate.

The pictures are great. Ethan changes so fast every week. We saw the blue angels last spring and they are amazing.
