Our little man turned one month on June 5th. It's amazing how much he's grown in just a month!
Here's Ethan sitting in the glider that he nurses in. We're going to take pictures of him each month in this chair to see how fast he grows. He's already big enough to sit by himself and hold his head up (for about 30 seconds...then he starts to fall over. Its pretty cute.).
In the last week he has started to smile more. He's not quite smiling at us yet, just smiles more when he's happy. We're excited its not just when he has gas any more. :)
Its funny how quick those happy smiles can turn into cries! I probably shouldn't laugh when he cries, but he makes some pretty funny faces when he's upset and tired.
Ethan still loves to look at bright lights more than anything, but he's gotten really good at also looking at objects close to him and following them as they move. Bright reds are his favorite to look at.
His best new skill is to look at people and appear to recognize them. My favoite time during the day is when he just hangs out and wants to watch me. Now if we could combo this skill with the smiling trick!
Ethan's personality has been very mellow so far. When he's awake and not hungry (which happens more and more these days!) he likes to sit and stare.
He is getting better control of his arms and legs each day. We can tell he's starting to figure out that those waving hands and arms that keep flying by his face, and sometimes hitting him, are his. He even gets his hand to his mouth when he wants it.
At about three weeks old Ethan started to grunt a lot more than before. He always grunts when he's hungry, or going to the bathroom, but he also started grunting when he's just hanging out in his chair or staring into space. I guess it is him progressing through the caveman stage...
Ethan is starting to make cute little baby noises more. He is still a big grunter, but is starting to mix in some oh's and ah's with the grunts too. He has such a sweet little voice.
He can get pretty serious when he's staring.
Ethan has never like his arms swaddled tight to him because he likes to be able to move them around when he sleeps. Its pretty cute to watch him flail his arms around but be dead sleep.
